It has been many years since I read Asterix. Intrigued by the front cover depicting what I thought looked like the small American skyscrapers from the 1900s, I ventured this book. Quick and funny, political and magical. ( )

The Romans decide to subdue the last outpost of Gauls by removing the forest and building a luxury block of flats. The contractor and his underlings have a little difficulty removing the trees due to Getafix' magic, but continue to aggravate our "barbarian" friends. Lots of word play, puns, etcetera, and the artwork is fabulous as always. Another fun adventure of Asterix, Obelix, Dogmatix and the gang. ( )

Caesar hires a developer to build a housing complex, "The Mansions of the Gods", near the Gallic village. Naturally, our friends take exception, although they wish to scuttle the plans in such a way as not to unduly hinder the Romans' slaves' hopes for freedom. ( )
