Yes, my friends, this is the book that was the focus of the original trial concerning the teaching of evolution. The trial is sometimes referred to as the Scopes Monkey Trial, and was presided over by William Jennings Bryan for the prosecution and Clarence Darrow for the defense.

The book itself was an excellent book for teaching biology, and would still be a fine resource for the student desiring to learn about biology, as long as other sources were used to supplement and update things. It is aimed at the secondary school student (what you would now consider High School), and I suspect that most students of that age now would profit from using this book.

It's a wonderful book, even a century later. ( )
