Lucius Annaeus Seneca, also known as Seneca, or Seneca the Younger, was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman and dramatist, who also acted as a tutor and adviser to emperor Nero. Attributed to Seneca is this political satire on the Roman emperor Claudius, Apocolocyntosis or The Pumpkinification of Claudius. I find out that reading the Greeks was normal reading activity for the Victorians, must be something in it then instead of this rarefied Public School thing where a Select Few are invited to be in their presence.
Seneca's Book reads like a Wikileaks Expose where the sins of the Emperor are exposed for all to see and the Ruler wants them to be hidden. I think this would explain why Seneca was forced to commit suicide by drinking poison? as a punishment like Socrates was? ( )
