Mercyverse, short stories, urban fantasy, werewolves, witches

Was each story exceptional? No. But I am so delighted that all of my questions about some dangling issues regarding some of the characters in the series in one place without having to go through a pile of books in which there is only one relevant to my questions! This is marvelous! ( )

Really nice anthology with good stories. Great fun for everybody who likes to dwell in Mercy Thompson's world! ( )

Good short stories! I'm not sure that it was worth the cost though - since it is a collection of short stories. ( )

I took a break from rereading the Mercy Thompson series to reread this one. Most of these stories don't actually contain Mercy, but I found that didn't bother me at all. "Silver" and "Roses in Winter" are my two favorite stories, since Asil and Bran are particular favorites of mine and their appearances in the main series books tend to be small, though powerful. "Roses in Winter" is probably my absolute favorite both for the update on Kara and for the look at pack politics. "Alpha and Omega" starts off Briggs' secondary series so its more or less required reading for that, but I don't enjoy it as much as the actual series. Both Anna and Charles are more likable once Anna's had a bit of a chance to recover. I'd like to see more from the characters in "Gray," though I don't remember that they make any other appearances. On the whole, I like how this collection fills in more details of the supernatural world in ways that still seem consistent with the main series. I enjoyed the Mercy focused story "Hallow," but I honestly would still have enjoyed the collection without. ( )

Nice to have these stories together in one place. I've read a couple of them before. Alpha and omega was what got me started on Patricia Briggs in the first place. But all of these short stories have been put into various anthologies that are sometimes hard to get in Australia. Americans can probably get the various anthologies easier so might be a bit less excited to get their hands on this book. Some of the stories are a bit uneven but still good and fill in some gaps in the characters backstories ( )
