I found some of the stories slow and difficult to get into, but on the most part they were awesome. Absolutely loved Warren and Kara's stories. ( )

Great stories. Loved that they were from other characters' points of view. ( )

This is a collection that I liked more with each story I read. The stories with Ben and Asil, both new ones ("Redemption" and "Roses in Winter"), were my favorites; really, it's hard to pick a favorite when they're all so good. There were two or three I'd read before, but most of these stories were new to me. The novella Alpha and Omega is included in the collection too, and I absolutely adore this story of how Anna and Charles met.
There's only one Mercy story in here, but don't let that worry you. If you love Patricia Briggs and the characters in her series, this collection is not to be missed.

2019 reread: As much as I liked this story collection the first time around, I enjoyed it even more when I read the stories interspersed with Mercy Thompson novels and Alpha and Omega novels to get everything in chronological order. It’s nice that this collection is arranged in chronological order. It was easy to find my place as I switched back and forth between stories and novels (Patty’s website has a handy guide to the reading order).

With supporting characters as wonderful as Briggs’s, it didn’t hurt the collection at all that there was only one Mercy story. Each story was well-written and added depth to the stories of characters I already loved. Great collection—not to be missed! ( )

I'm not a huge fan of short story books. I picked the ones in here that I had an interest in from her other series. I thought out of all of them Silver was best. ( )

If you are a fan of the Mercy Thompson series, you will enjoy this book. I would definitely recommend reading through that series before this book because it will give you more of an appreciation for the different characters whose stories are told here. It can stand on it's own, but I really enjoyed reading stories from the viewpoint of characters who are not a main voice in the series itself.

Long story short: Like the series? Read this book. ( )
