This is an excellent historical book covering hurricanes that struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast from 1717 to 1985 (the cover says "1717 to Present" but it only covers up until 1985, the year prior to the book's publication). It contains goodly amounts of information on the hurricanes as well as illustrations and photographs. The book goes up to Hurricane Elena (which I and my wife-to-be at the time both experienced) and gives Hurricane Kate a short mention since it initially threatened the Mississippi Gulf Coast but eventually went ashore in the Florida Panhandle around Tallahassee, Florida (ironically where my wife and I eventually settled down for over 20 years thus far). I believe the book is long out of print, but if you can find a copy, I suggest obtaining it since it gives historical and personal perspectives concerning hurricanes. ( ) no reviews | add a review
