Team Urameshi continues to do well in the Dark Tournament. Fox Demon Kurama makes an honest monster out of Reverse Urashima, but, unfortunately, Urashima's fellow Fractured Fairy Tale Shishiwakamaru silences him before he can divulge the truth about his team. No library descriptions found. |

We switch scenes to Yusuke trying to recover from Master Genkai's final test, with the help of his spirit/underworld beast, Pu.
Our next bout is girl demon favorite Shishiwakamaru versus Kuwabara. I note that some of the female demons go for Kurama. Understandable.
After that it's Shishiwakamaru versus Genkai. His Banshee Blade is marvelous, but I wouldn't count the old woman out.
We learn the truth about Old Bloke in the final match before Team Toguro faces the Five Rangers. Watch the Elder Toguro brother take on three of the Five Rangers at the same time -- wow!
There are also flashbacks. One involves Hiei and Kurama. Genkai gets another.
The reason volume 10's subtitle is 'Unforgivable!!' will become apparent in the last chapter, which has that same title.
Genkai really struts her stuff in this volume. Yusuke is still unconscious from the big subplot of volume 9 -- until the last chapter.
Remember Kuwabara's big crush on Yukina the ice maiden? He doesn't know she's Hiei's half-sister (and neither does she), so he's happy to trash talk about Hiei. Loved the form Hiei took in Botan's mind as remembers what he said he'd do to her if she told when she wants to clue Kuwabara kin. (Isn't it nice that his first name, Kazuma, is now included in the cast list at the beginning?)
I loved Kuwabara's reaction to seeing Yukina, his big sister, Yusuke's mom, Botan, and Keiko on page 44. (Also enjoyed his sister's comeback.)
The title page illustration shows at least Yusuke, Kurama, and Hiei mashed together Picasso style. The little bipedal creature to their right is kind of cute. Do be sure to look closely at the two-page spread summarizing the first five bouts of Team Urameshi versus Team Fractured Fairy Tales on pages 88-89. The little cartoons and brief dialog are cute.
Chu and Rinku of the Jolly Devil Six (see volumes 6 and 7), as well as Jin and Toya of the Shadow Channelers (see volumes 8 and 9) appear again.
This is one of the translated manga where the art hasn't been flipped, but you should get used to reading in the opposite direction from American comics. Do pay attention to the tiny print in the margins. They can be quite fun. There's an informative one on p. 103. ( )
