A delightful book about a boy named Michael who is found in the woods by elves. Published originally in West German, it was difficult to add this book to my library.

The illustrations by Frank Baumgarten and lovely as we watch Michael, who is appreciative of the elves help in rescuing him. As he helps the elves chop wood and forge steel for the elves coal mine, together they trod through the woods singing merry tunes and celebrating Christmas with all creatures big and small.

When spring arrives, Michael is on his way. ( )
