It is the end of the summer of 1940 and Biggles has been given command of the 666th Fighter Squadron, which consists of officers who don't take too kindly to discipline. Angus Mackail is flying down to meet his new squadron but, due to bad weather, he is forced to land in a field. Later, in a farmhouse, he meets a jealous Canadian pilot called Nutty' Armand, who takes him on a ride to remember. In some ways it feels like some of the WWI stories have just been transplanted to WWII and in one case it is very similar (the pig one - compare to a flower one from WWI).
Still, easy read, lots of action. ( )
