This average police procedural mystery checks off all the boxes: a jaded but sharp (and in this case, also micromanaging) investigator, officers of varying integrity and ability, a seedy drug underworld, violence and gore, and unhinged perpetrators. I was neither impressed nor substantially disappointed. Recommended only for large mystery collections. ( )
