By far the best version of how Bruce fell down the well and discovered his destiny. ( )

A gorgeously-illustrated retelling of the Dark Knight's origins and youth, Batman's Dark Secret portrays Bruce Wayne learning to confront and embrace the darkness as a weapon against his enemies. The moody art and psychological undertones may be a little creepy for kids, but are faithful to the modern, gritty version of the Batman's story. ( )

In a way, Batman's origin story. Sparingly told, with striking illustrations. Would serve as an engaging read-aloud for superhero fans and boys.
