Honeymoon Hoax is the story of Cameron Hines and Brad Taylor, BFF’s since they were young. This is told in first person from both Cam’s and Brad’s povs.

Brad’s been left at the altar. He’s upset because he can’t go on the honeymoon cruise which he’d really been looking forward to, and which is non-refundable. One of his friends suggests marrying Cameron, who just so happens to have the exact same name as the ex-fiance. Brad, who is up for any crazy thing, thinks it’s a great idea. Him and Cam are best buddies and get along great. Cam is not thrilled with the idea, but he’s always gone along with Brad’s schemes. What’s one more? Besides, Cam has been in love with Brad almost forever, even though Brad is straight. Brad however is okay with having a gay experimental honeymoon and when they get back the two can divorce and go back to being friends. But for Cam that will be impossible. He loves Brad too much and grows to love him even more as the trip goes on.

This is a very quick read. The scenes aren’t very deep. Just enough to give an idea of what the author wanted to convey. Besides the scenes being short, the wording of the story is rather abrupt too, quickly jumping from one scene to the other and skimming the surface of emotions and events. It’s still a fluffy story and leaves the reader feeling good.

Both Cam and Brad sounded like the same person when speaking from their pov. But when observing the other character, it was much easier to get an idea what the other MC was like. Which makes me think that this story would have been better written in third person. Cam is responsible, orderly and tends to keep his feelings to himself. Brad is outgoing, expressive and not afraid to try new things. A definite extrovert. He was looking forward to having sex with Cam, but Brad does something to upset Cam and then needs to make an apology. Brad is rather clueless.

In terms of editing, there were numerous missing words that the author might want to check over again if there’s a second edition. The last quarter of the book also seemed to have more of a 'chic-lit' feel to it too.

Honeymoon Hoax is a quick, fluffy read if you’re looking for something to pass the time. I give this book 3 Stars.

Book description
Brad Taylor’s been left at the altar. He’d take the honeymoon alone, but his non-refundable tickets are for a newlyweds-only cruise. Brad needs a spouse to get on that ship, so he asks his best man (and best friend) for a quickie Vegas wedding. Now they both can have the time of their lives in the Caribbean.

Best man Cameron Hines has never been able to say no to Brad’s hare-brained schemes, but this one takes the cake! The truth is, Cameron would be happy to be Brad’s husband - for a lifetime. But pining after a straight man is the road to heartbreak. Better to go play in the sun with his best friend and resign himself to ending the charade once they return to their regularly scheduled lives.

Brad knows he’s not gay, but he’s not entirely straight either. Playing the happy honeymooning couple with another man is the perfect opportunity for some sexual experimentation. It’s just a shipboard fling—it won’t wreck a friendship as strong as theirs. Or will it?
