It had the same feel as the first two books of the trilogy, but it being the finale, what I expected and what I got wasn't very close to start with. The deaths that happen weren't expected at all and the way they were presented didn't touch me as I believe they should have, with an exception for Nesa (I don't know if it's written like that, I listened to the audiobook). Maybe it should have been a duology as many reviews say, but overall it is a good book series and I would recommend it, as a secondary read ( )

This series was disappointing, and yet, I felt compelled to finish it. The story was predictable and the last novel was too focused on fighting and war and less on character development.

I liked the books' strong anti-tyranny and anti-fear themes. The relationship between Meira and Ceri seemed flat and forced, as did Ceri's relationships with other characters even though she had chapters written in her voice. I did not appreciate that Ceri called Jesse a weak man to his face. That's straight up abusive! It's one thing to be a strong female lead and quite another to be a critical partner. Not a great role model.

I wouldn't recommend this series. ( )

4.5 stars. I loved this but there was something I wished we'd seen from a certain perspective that would have made it flow a little smoother at one point. But yes, a bloody good fantasy trilogy that has just gotten better from book to book. Highly recommend. ( )

I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler free way. If you feel anything in my review is a spoiler and is not already hidden in spoiler brackets please let me know. Thank you.

This book took me forever to read. Thats why I gave it a low rating. I made it a little past halfway then I had to switch to an audio version just to finish it. I'm not even sure why I don't like it. It has so many elements that should make it a book I love, but unfortunately I don't. The series started off so good too but just declined from there.

I did love the romance though, but it took WAY to long to fully develop. I found the ending to be very predictable, but still it was a good ending. All in all though I'm glad this book and series is finished. I might consider reading more of this authors work later on.

How I choose my rating:
1* Hated it. Had to force myself to finish it.
2** Didn't really like it. Didn't hate it but not sure why I finished it other then for some closure.
3*** I liked it. I had some issues with it, but as a whole it was good. I probably won't reread again ever, but there is a chance I might finish the series. (If part of one) But if not it's not a huge loss.
4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this again, and I will finish the series. (If part of one) I would recommend to those I know hold interest in this books content.
5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will definitely be rereading this and probably more than once. I will finish the series and reread it multiple times. (If part of one) I will recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!!
