The In The Woods set is the result of a collaboration between the Geauga Park District in northeast Ohio and MaryRuth Books. After seeing the Let’s Explore set, the park district contacted author Mia Coulton about writing books to compliment their Signs of the Season nature walks. In The Woods focuses on the annual plant and animal cycles and the changing weather conditions that characterize the seasons. By reading about Danny and Bee as they explore the woods, children learn what to look for when they are in a natural area. Each book has instructions on making a simple paperbag field journal that children can use to record their observations and safeguard found objects.
