In the past couple of years, I've found that reading the prayers of others can be beneficial to my own prayer life.
This is a pretty little book, and I found several prayers that were especially meaningful to me and that I'm sure I'll revisit. These were mixed in with a few that seemed overly general or just a bit weird, but I'm still glad I checked it out.
It's a great gift idea for friends or family who are into devotional reading. ( )

The book itself is lovely with the art of illumination---gorgeous. The author provides prayers for a myriad of issues, from personal to global. I've given this as a gift several times and it is something I go back to frequently when words fail me. ( )

I was initially drawn to this book because the artwork is so strikingly pretty. The prayers lend themselves to quiet reflection, although I found them to be somewhat uneven in tone and quality. That might be because Marianne Williamson seems to have strived to have at least one prayer for every possible occasion. Still, it's a pleasant book to open at random to read, appreciate the artwork, and ponder life in general. ( )
