Can I give it 100 stars? I'm now convinced that there is nothing this man can't write. I know of only one published work by him that I haven't read and I think I'll remedy that right now. ( )

Interesting but let itself be too predictable. Wasn't expecting it to be so short either. ( )

I've never read a Sanderson book before, so I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting into with this one.

I found the world building to be super great and interesting. The setting was engrossing and I had so many questions like: why are all these buildings run down? what was the turning event in 2016 to change the world so much? what the hell is the THING that makes Snapshots possible? I'm a little sad that these things didn't get resolved, but it kept me engaged.

The 'mystery' itself was a little meh. I can't say I saw the twist coming from a mile away, but neither did it surprise me too much.

3 stars because I wish the book had been more about the 'unconscious thing' generating the Snapshots than the 2 average crimes that were presented. ( )

Wow, what a great sci-fi thriller! Snapshot is a program that can make an exact replica of a certain day in time including people, food, lighting. They then send cops in undercover to watch a crime and see what happens, find evidence, and be a witness if necessary. This is a story about two cops that do this for a living. One cop noticed that a crime, must have happened and covered up. They decided to check it out. What they find and what happens is most is the story! Extraordinary! Great story and plot! Exciting until the very end! ( )

Wonderfully detailed.
And purely a Sanderson thing.
Throws down a highly disturbing idea that won't let your mind rest peacefully for a while.

I'm quite terrible at guessing as far as detective stories are concerned. Even so, it was quite obvious that something was not right. And the technology itself left me rather unsettled.

This story was a trip.

FINAL VERDICT : TRY IT! ( )
