In "Wales, An Archaeological Guide" A great wealth of information is provided for those traveling to the area who have an interest in ancient history. Each chapter describes a different region in Wales and the prehistoric ruins that can be found there including hill forts, standing stones, and village sites. Directions and map coordinates help the traveler pinpoint the locations of the sites and diving routes as well as suggestions of villages for lodging are useful in planning a trip. Each site is briefly described providing the reader with dates, an overview of archaeological excavations, and museums where artifacts from can be viewed. A basic understanding of Welsh history helps but is not necessary for understanding the information given, but it should be said that this is a guide book rather than time line of the country. Some of the information about museum opening and closing times are likely not accurate as the book was published in 1975 but the rest of what is presented seems valuable and accurate.
