Summary: Three bears live in a house in the forest. Once they leave the house, a little girl comes by for a visit. She tries out their food, chairs, and beds. The three bears come back and frighten the little girl.

Personal Reaction: This classic tale is a very sweet version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I really enjoyed reading this to 1st graders and asking them what they thought would happen next. This book has very detailed illustrations that fit nicely with the storyline.

Extension Ideas: Using various sizes of plastic bear manipulatives, have the children sort each bear into small, medium and large.

Print three beds, three chairs, and three bowls on paper. Using Teddy Grahams, have the children recreate the story. ( )
