I have been reading a few books by Freeman Wills Croft in recent times, and overall they are good value if you enjoy some Golden Age detection. In this case, Crofts is one of the more logical/procedural of writers, and this book featured his Inspector French, who is always a welcome diversion.

The tale is as the mysterious disappearance of Magill, who was travelling between England and Belfast. It has been a few months since I had red this book, and as such the detail is now a little vague and rather than perhaps get it wrong or misleading I will keep this review very short.

I had earlier read another of Croft's books man Overboard!, which also featured a man disappearing between London and Belfast (a dangerous path no doubt)! Save for that and the presence of French again, but think that Magill (written before Overboard) was the better of the two.
