3.5 but rounded up because a) most of the art is great and b) the scene with the boys in Bat Burger is adorable and funny and makes Bruce feel more human than 100 proposals or kisses with Selina ever would.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind the proposal issue and the art on that particular page is glorious but I was always a bit meh about the idea of Bats and Cat getting married.
This is 100% better than the previous issue.
Although I've just realised I should have paused to read The Button (Flash c/o) after the Bane arc. ( )

Bane tearing through Arkham Asylum is kind of fun, but the Catwoman B-plot is so much more interesting than the latest Batman-Bane brawl that it makes you wonder why King even bothered. ( )

King proves more ambitious in this volume while not fully creating a satisfying story. The parallels between Bane and Batman were memorable, however, and I liked the Annual about the dog. Finch makes good art. I like Janin's art more but that's just a matter of preference. ( )

Review to be published on the release date, 9.5.17, at the request of the publisher. ( )

With this volume, Tom King finally wins me over to his Batman. The lead feature is cheesy, but it works. Mostly, I'm impressed with the Alfred and Swamp Thing back-up stories. It takes balls to shoot Alan Moore in the face. Even if he doesn't rise to Moore's standard, King at least addresses the elephant in the room that shows up whenever anyone tries to write Swamp Thing.
