This is a much more comprehensible story than The Ninefox Gambit. Somewhat less special as a result. We have a Fox who wants to be a human, and is quite close--she only has to kill and eat one more human to get there. That human turns out to be one who is wise to Foxes' ways. Our Fox ends up buying into her mission and her life. Fun to read, and worth seeking out if you like the author. ( )
