Enjoyed this a lot, especially given the context of what is going on in Eastern Europe and Western Asia.

The attention to detail and authoritative descriptions of aircraft technology and flight techniques is commendable. Also the mind's eye view of the life or death situations in the book give it a huge poignant relevance at the moment.

I'm reluctant to give it 5* and to mark it a favourite though, as it suffers from what so many action thrillers do in my opinion

- the finale, the climax, the conclusion - it is all compressed into too few pages.

If I was to write a thriller, I'd write this first to the same level of description and detail as the rest of the book - when I read a book I like to savour the tying up of all loose ends, the resolving of all mysteries, the justice that is hopefully meted out. ( )
