For the unfamiliar, Tinder is a mobile dating app that helps pair up singles with others in their geographical area. Swiping right on a person’s profile means you like them and if they like you back, the app will let you know you’re a match. Sounds simple, right? In “Tinder Nightmares”, it’s less about the simple and more about the absurd. Comprised of real-life interactions that were submitted by users of the app, the book features chapters on unique ice breakers, funny pick-up lines, persistence and bad grammar and spelling (which, it turns out, is one of the biggest turn-offs for Tinder users). Many of the exchanges featured in the book are a bit raunchy and explicit, though the editors’ comments often spot-on and hysterical in their own right. Whether you're single, married or somewhere in between, some of the depraved exchanges depicted in “Tinder Nightmares” might cause you to temporarily lose faith in humanity. In the end, however, the book does a great job of helping you laugh at otherwise awkward and embarrassing situations and shows you that no matter how bad of an interaction you might have had, somebody else has probably had one that’s worse.
