I resisted this book despite Amy Lane being one of my most reliable go-to authors, because usually angel stores don't work for me. Well, this one did. Although I anticipated most of the emotional beats, the delivery's near-perfect. Few romance writers address love for the truly long-lived, but Lane did, really well. You can look at it as a superhero story. There are super-human powers on both sides and danger to humans and hard choices and consequences. If any of that appeals, do give this one a try. ( ) Familiar Angel by Amy Lane Get through the intro and into the first chapter and you won’t regret it. It took me three tries to get past the subject matter but know this is a “rescue” and romance. It’s touching. It’s heartbreaking. It romantic. It’s a rebuilding. There’s a bit of mystical. There’s detailed consensual M/M romantic sex. There’s deep familiar love and support. There’s faith. A love story. no reviews | add a review
