This nursery rhymes book was fun and silly which most children love. The language in this book was very patterned and clear. The author was mostly retelling old loved nursery rhymes but they were very clear and patterned in terms of language. A linguistic choice that the author did choose to make was changing the nursery rhyme "pussy cat pussy cat" to pretty cat pretty cat", the year of publishing might have had an effect on this decision. Another quality that I enjoyed in this book was the illustrations. They looked like cardboard string puppets which young children often have the chance to play with and are familiar with. This illustration choice helps encourage children to read and stay focused on the book because it adds a connection to their lives. The purpose of this book is just to entertain young children and introduce some rhyming. ( )

Who doesn't love Mother Gooses nursery rhymes? The pictures are bright and textured on every page, which makes it hard to not turn the page to fast. I like books that make you want to see what is on the next page. ( )
