Back from the brink is a story about various animals from Whooping Cranes, Wolves, Bald Eagles, California Condors, American Alligators, to the American Bison. The author discusses the path to preservation and how these animals were put in jeopardy in the first place. Some of the animals are raised in captivity to boost the wild population. There is also information in the back of the book on what to watch for as well as organizations that can be contacted if someone wants to help these animals. There is a bibliography, glossary as well as an index in the back of the book for reference. I would recommend this for readers who are interested in wildlife or as a reference for a project. The illustrations are colorful. ( ) no reviews | add a review

Back from the Brink answers these questions and more as it delves into the threats to seven species, and the scientific and political efforts to coax them back from the brink of extinction. This rich, informational look at the problem of extinction has a hopeful tone: all of these animals' numbers are now on the rise. No library descriptions found. |
