3.5 stars

I liked that this installment gave us two perspectives (Sandee's and Varina's). It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so it feels less complete than some of the other books in the series.

Parts of this made me think the publisher was in a rush to get it out, though. There are a few silly typos. Plus, there was an inconsistency with Varina's character that I feel an editor should have caught. She gets a B on a government exam and her grades in general are described as having room for improvement, but good. But she supposedly has a near-perfect memory! Surely she could memorize what's necessary to ace tests in high school.

Overall, though, I'm enjoying my reread of the series! ( )
