Een debuut dat het groter en ambitieuzer aanpakt dan de meeste debuten: Amsterdam in de jaren 80 90 00, de muziek van het moment, de evolutie van de medische wereld, commercialisering van de zorgsector, opkomst digitale technologieën, filosofie en spiritualiteit, liefdesrelaties, vriendschap, drugs, prostitutie, kanker, rouw, ... Abelsen brengt het allemaal aan en laat het boek lekker doorstomen, maar voor 300 pagina's is het net wat te veel ... voor een overdonderende entree in de Nederlandse letteren had dit debuut wel tweemaal zo dik moeten (en mogen) zijn.
