I’m glad things with Esther and Ed didn’t get dragged on longer than this, and I’m happy with how that bit got wrapped up.
In terms of artwork, I personally highly prefer Max Sarin’s illustrations over Julia Madrigal’s; I don’t care for how Madrigal does faces/body movements. Sarin just has much more warmth and livelihood that fits this story better! ( )

I love how this comic depicts these characters inching toward maturity even as they seem outwardly to be regressing. Or at least, clinging to their youthful habits and foibles even as they inexorably outgrow them. Relationships become ever more complex but Esther, Susan and Daisy stay true to each other. It is awesome. ( )

Loved this latest installment. There was nice resolution to conflict from volume 9, sweet moments with the gang, and many silly, hilarious lines (although I’m going to stop reading them out loud to my husband, whose lack of reaction is exceedingly disappointing).
May there be many more to come. ( )

graphic fiction series (issues 37-40)

Chapter 37: For the first weeks of summer break, Daisy stays with her Granny, who found out from Ingrid that Daisy is queer and is upset that Daisy never told her; Daisy moves into Susan's summer housing instead in hopes that she can find a place to live before the new school year starts. She applies to be a residential mentor for first years, then makes up with her Granny and returns home. 38: Daisy settles in as RA in the old dorm, Esther finds that Ed has not returned to school and Dean has declared her to be his enemy, and Susan hates the flat that McGraw picked out. 39: Daisy, Esther, Susan and McGraw go to a job fair -- Daisy has too many offers, but she wants to do archaeology instead; Esther obtains the card for a mysterious company; McGraw thinks he'll pursue a Master's degree so he can stay in Sheffield while Susan finishes her medical training. 40: Ed returns to school but things are still awkward between him and Esther; he runs into Nina Archer while at physical therapy. Susan sees Ingrid kissing someone at a club and quickly shoos Daisy and the others away before they can see. ( )
