This series has a darker undertone that the authors other work. The heroine has suffered sexual abuse while in captivity, it is vague, there are no details or scenes replayed (In flashback) but it's stated as happened and she has to deal with the consequences, testing at a clinic and fear of intimacy. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating or other woman/man drama. Strong secondary characters and possible breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and updates of previous characters and couples from previous books. HEA. This was definitely no the usual romance novel and it was very refreshing. This book also had many of the traditional romances elements that just need to be there.
