Gordie is excited about starting his first day of third grade. He has a new planner, a great teacher, and plans to share his locker with his best friend, Lamont. However, things don't end up quite as he expected. His locker mate is Lucy, the show-off teacher's pet. So Gordie begins a new plan: figure out a way to "stink" Lucy right out of his locker!

I really liked this book! I was Lucy, and there was a boy in my class that always had something mean to say! Yet we were simultaneously good friends. And he turned out to be a pretty decent person once we got past the fact that we were rivals. This is such a typical elementary school book that the readers will easily relate to because they've all been through it.

This would be a good book to use to introduce every students' hobbies. The children can bring in something they collect or do during afterschool hours, so we can all relate to everyone else. ( )
