Elizabeth feels as if she is the only kid in Class 2B who has not lost a tooth yet. The story starts with Anna losing one during recess. Those who lost a tooth in Class 2B form a club; The Big Mouth Club. Elizabeth and Cali are the only ones who are not in the club and are forced to play together. On their playdate, Cali’s nickname comes out; Babyish Cali. Elizabeth realises this is name calling and would not make her feel very happy if anyone called her a name. She becomes super Elizabeth apologizes and stands up for Cali at school. A little book with a big message.
Short chapters, a lot of white space and delightful black and white illustrations on almost every spread, makes it a great book for those transitioning to reading their own chapter books or as a read aloud to the lower grades.
