Ward, G. W. Prothero, and Stanley Leathes (read Jul 2, 1972) This is the old Cambridge History, with this particular volume being published in 1909, The chapters are by different historians, and so the volume is uneven, and its age shows some. I most was fascinated by the chapter "Denmark under the Bernstorffs and Struensee" which at the time was a revelation to me--and tells of probably the most interesting period in Danish history. Another chapter I was caught up by was "The Hats and Caps and Gustavus III" telling of that momentous time in Sweden. This is the only volume of the Cambridge History I have ever read.
