The Hale family is obsessed with status, power, and control. No problem is too big their money can't solve. Royce Hale manipulated me into giving him everything. My virginity. My hand in marriage. My heart. And as soon as he got what he wanted, he callously sold me off for a cool ten million. In the boardroom and the twisted game his family plays, he says the only rule is to win at all costs. Yesterday I learned a painful lesson not to trust the prince of Cape Hill. Today I'll destroy his carefully laid plans and show him just how badly he's already lost. All the money in the world won't be able to stop me.… (more)

She did it again

These mind games are insane. I find I like all the characters in one moment and waould rather take a bath with leeches in the next one. Who here is god.? No, seriously who here is good?

Liking the tie in with mythology. Especially, as mythology is a passion of mine. It ends with a twist I never saw coming. It's after 6 in the am and I'm wanting to continue straight to the next book. I will hold off though for now. Barely. ( )

I enjoyed this one! I think I liked it more than book one even. This has the same super fast pace and it's easy to read. I flew through this in just two sittings. There's not as much outside plot in this one but I found that I didn't mind that.

I still enjoyed Marist's character but Royce wasn't in this one as much and frankly, I'm just not very interested in his character or him as a love interest. It's hard to say if that's just because he wasn't in this book as much or because I just don't like him. I don't hate him, I don't mind him as a love interest, and I don't mind reading about him, he just doesn't grip me. Mcalister on the other hand definitely did interest me. He's definitely the "bad guy" I guess, but he was just so much more interesting to me compared to Royce and because he was more interesting, I almost wanted for him to take over as the main love interest. He definitely does some bad stuff but his parts were the most interesting parts of this book to me.

There is still some business stuff happening, but the plot is a lot more interpersonal. Sometimes, that really bores me but here it really worked. I think it's probably because this family is just filled to the gills with drama that it didn't feel boring to me. There are definitely some slower parts to this and I would have liked to see Marist interact with her family more. It feels like that plot line got dropped a bit and only brought up when necessary as a threat but maybe will get more in book three. The ending is definitely intriguing so reading book three is definitely high on my list. ( )
