A great picture book to show children the different species of dinosaurs, with very colorful and professional illustrations. ( ) This book informs the reader about the evolution of dinosaurs through poems and shows what the birds the dinosaurs evolved into look like. The book also includes how to pronounce the names of dinosaurs and The illustrations help the reader visualize the dinosaurs. I would say that the book would be interesting for high primary and intermediate readers, but I would not use the book as a read-aloud. Summary: A poetic introduction to the world of dinosaurs -- now with feathers! The bulk of the book is a rhyming (ish) list of various species. Personal reaction: The art is phenomenal. Inspiring and magical, and at the same time credibly scientific. The wonder of nature, the past, and imagination. The feathered dinosaurs work well. A minor downside is that the attempts to rhyme lengthy Greek dino names are largely unsuccessful, or at least fairly stilted. no reviews | add a review
