Fascinating concept, and an introduction to what appears to be a much more sprawling story. This book is very much a character / world introduction. Many of the crew have their own stories, and are working through the fears in their own way. Love the idea of a game played cross worlds and hope that future books are going to show a game played. The ways that magic is weaved into the story is great. The back and forth from the story to the journal entries was interesting, not sure that they added to the overall book though. It will be an adventure to discover how the crew handles their fate in future books. no reviews | add a review

Impossible world. Impossible dragon. Impossible adventure. Lost with her ship and crew in an unfamiliar land, Min's first command could be her last. Nothing here behaves the way it should: The magic that powers her skyship has been drained, rendering it immobile. The sky is an endless twilight, lit by the luminous fish that swim in it. Off starboard, there's also the country-sized dragon that is looking particularly hungry. It will take all of Min's training and experience to get her people safely back home, but as the truth about the Darkstar Dimension begins to be revealed, Min will have to prove to her crew - and to herself - that she is still the best person for the job. From the twisted mind that created the 'delightfully weird' Yarnsworld series comes a fantasy adventure like no other. Grab it now, to set sail on a journey you'll never forget! It's a marvelous adventure full of bizarre and colorful ideas.
I backed the Kickstarter for this and the next book in the series just by seeing the art and trusting the book description that sounded just like something I'd love.
And boy I'm glad I did. ( )
