Grace, 13, and her brother Carter, 11, and their dog Sitka set off for a hike of Blood Mountain with their father. Their youthful energy leaves their father behind and by the end of the day they are irretrievably lost. Further back on the trail, their father suffers a heart attack. Makayla is a forest ranger whose job includes tracking lost hikers and campers. She’s just heard news of the escape of a pet mountain lion. Meanwhile, deep in the wilderness lives John, a troubled military veteran who seeks the solace and solitude of nature. ( )
