An adorable anime collection! A recent widower, who had agreed to get a cat right before his wife died, decides to honor his promise and goes to the pet store. There he finds a fat, almost year-old kitten, who has been passed over again and again for being ‘ugly’. He doesn’t even have a name. For some reason, the man and the cat ‘click’ and he picks the cat up- a man who has never touched an animal before. The drooly, exotic short-hair cat sniffles his way into the man’s heart. Once home, they have to get used to each other- ‘home’ is a new concept to the cat. The strip is entirely about, well, the man and his cat. Sweet and engaging. ( )

This is a cute and cat-themed manga, but the episodic style got old for me by the end of it. I think this would be one read best a few chapters at a time instead of all at once. (Side note: this makes sense, since it started out being posted on Twitter.) It's still really cute and uplifting though, and is worth a read if you want something charming. ( )

A poor cat in a pet shop is overlooked by everyone who enters. The cat has nearly given up hope of ever having a real home, when in comes a man, a widower, and he just knows this will be his cat. And the cat finally knows that, too, when at last he is given a name. This graphic novel is a lovely story about a man and the cat he comes to love and who loves him in return. The author has good grasp of cat behavior, both the good and the not so good! He also has developed well the character of Mr. Kanda through both the illustrations and the written captions. It’s a great novel, just remember to read it from back to front and right to left. ( )
