La presente obra es un compendio de las diversas líneas de trabajo que definen el naciente campo de la filosofía de la química; en cada una de éstas se consideran brevemente las causas más importantes de la relativa oscuridad de la química, y cómo el reciente florecimiento del quehacer en filosofía de la química -parte de él documentado en el presente volumen- ha ayudando a que esta ciencia sea más visible y aceptada como sujeto idóneo de reflexión crítica dentro y fuera del laboratorio. De esta manera se cumple uno de los objetivos de este libro: aumentar la presencia de la química desde una perspectiva filosófica.
