Holden and Sophie use to spend all their summers together in the small town in Tennessee and they were such great friends that had the potential to be more, but life took them in different directions. Holden hasn’t had it easy lately, so he is back to the one place he loved to spend his summers and helping his grandfather out while trying to get his life back on track. While in town he runs into his first best friend, Sophie, they pick up with their banter and friendship like no time ever kept them apart. They both are trying to figure problems in their lives out, so they come up with a plan to help each other out. The attraction has always been there but can they fight it just so they can move forward, or will the pull be too strong? This friends to lover’s romance was such a cute and fun read with a small town vibe that I couldn’t and didn’t want to put it down. I loved Sophie’s relationship with her siblings, I loved the back-and-forth banter between her and Holden, and I absolutely adored this town. I hope we get more!! ( )

This author is my go-to when I need a good dose of romance. There is a certain charm about her characters that draw me in and make me believe in love again. It is wholesome, almost a southern, good-ole-boy charm, mixed with a down-home but feisty girl that is fierce sprinkled with the perfect amount of steam. Her heroines always remind me of how I picture this author to be in real life after watching some of her social media posts. I especially felt her in this story and imagined Holden to be like her husband from the way that she speaks so highly of him. In the afterward part of the story, I discovered I was right and it made me love the characters that much more.

Holden and Sophie were that perfect couple. Even though the storyline itself was a bit cliche, it still was heartwarming to watch these two gravitate toward something that real after starting out as fake. I loved the secondary characters and hope Liz gets a story. I would have liked to have had more of a resolution with Holden's dad.

I recommend this author to anyone wanting to experience what honest to goodness love is. ( )

3.25/5 stars!

When events happened that were out of his control, the hero decided to help his grandfather's veterinarian practice as he assesses his life. The heroine has financial woes after her ex took off with more than his share of the money. A marriage of convenience comes up to solve the couple's individual troubles, as well as forcing forward the feelings they have for each other.

I liked the small-town vibes of the story, and how the couple were friends before they became lovers. I also think that particular events in the story foreshadows more books in the future featuring other characters, especially the heroine's siblings. There were some details that could be added to make the story flow more smoothly; more details were also needed for characters to give a better image of their personalities. However, those are my preferences and did not detract from the whole story.

Overall the book is a nice friends-to-lovers story featuring likable characters and small-town vibes.
