"A chilling murder. Chief of Police Jane Hardy plunges into the investigation of a house fire that claimed the life of a local woman as well as one of the firefighters. It's clear the woman was murdered. But why? The unraveling of Jane's personal life only makes the answers in the case more difficult to find. Her son's arrest. Then Jane's fifteen-year-old son is accused of a horrific crime, and she has to decide whether or not she can trust her ex, Reid, in the attempt to prove Will's innocence--and whether she can trust Reid with her heart. Her stolen memories. Three days of Jane's past are missing from her memory, and that's not all that has been stolen from her. As she works to find the woman's murdered and clear her son's name, finding out what happened in those three days could change everything. It all started with one little lie. But the gripping truth is finally coming out. Praise for Three Missing Days: "Colleen Coble is my go-to author for the best romantic suspense today . . . a stay-up-all-night page turning story!" - Carrie Stuart Parks, bestselling and award-winning author of Relative Silence"--… (more)

Hmm, this was an interesting one. I have to admit, I was looking forward to this book ever since I read the first one.
It didn't live up to my expectations but it didn't not live up to my expectations.
I really liked seeing all the characters again but I felt that some of the magic from the first two books was missing.
The plot moved along quite well and there were not any dull moments.
Although it was not my favorite, I would still recommend this as a good ending to a great trilogy.

4/5 Stars

3 and 1/2 stars rounded to 4.

After a wonderful start I found Three Missing Days started to lose my interest as the mix of suspense and normal life was somewhat weird in the telling. I stuck with it not expecting much while at the same time expecting to finish the book with at least 3 stars since I’ve found in the past Coble’s books to drag and then pick up.

Wow, was I glad I stuck with it. The second half of the book grabbed my attention and with a few groans at slow places I was still eager to find out what would happen to the characters and where the story was going.

This isn’t your normal suspense as it is so much … more. It ends with a beautiful redeeming end after a story that was at times quite stark.

Content warnings: mentions of past mistakes, dealings with cults, murders, threats, and more of the like.

This is where our fear meets the bedrock of our faith….I pray you’re right. I vacillate between total trust and total doubt.

Wow! Expect to sit on the edge of your seat for however many hours it takes you to read this book! Just imagine your child being charged with murder, your world falling apart around you and you have no idea who to trust. All you know is that your child is innocent.

The author has done a fabulous job of taking the reader in circles, with so many subplots you start to wonder if it could be the same group behind the fires, murders, etc. Chief Jane Hardy and her deputies are at their finest, working to solve these convoluted mysteries.

This book was borrowed from the church library. These thoughts and impressions are my own. ( )

Three Missing Days is the third book in the Pelican Harbor Series. Jane Hardy, police chief of Pelican Harbor, is investigating the mysterious death of a local woman when members of the cult she was raised in show up on an island nearby. She learns that their presence may be linked to Jane’s mother whom Jane has neither seen nor heard from in all the years since escaping the cult with her father. Jane and her ex, Reid, go in search of Jane’s mother and learn secrets that begin to unravel the memories of Jane’s past. But as Jane and Reid arrive back in town, they learn that Will, their son, has been framed for murder and could face life in prison or even the death penalty. Can the mysteries of Jane’s past help to solve the murders of the present? And will they be able to piece together all the clues in time to save their son?

I found Three Missing Days to be a book that caught my attention at the start and held it until the end. The story keeps a steady pace, never stalling out or dragging. The characters of Jane and Reid are likable and relatable. I appreciate the element of faith that Colleen Coble always works into her stories, and I appreciate that she writes clean romance. Overall, Three Missing Days was a good read — exciting, full of action, romance, and faith.
