B (Good).

People with superpowers go to war. There's a lot of action, and it's good action, but it's a bit of a letdown to be reading what's essentially an X-Men book after the interesting fantasy stuff of the previous book.

*Contains spoilers if you haven't read the previous Hidden Legacy books*

The third installment in the Catalina trilogy and book 6 of the Hidden Legacy series showcases the exciting, dangerous, and shocking finale to the battles that were started throughout the first 5 books. We have family secrets coming to light, intense battle scenes, political power struggles, and of course the continued relationship growth of Catalina and Alessandro.

This was a fantastic finale that somehow wrapped up a lot of old loose ends while still managing to introduce new characters, provide depth to ones we thought we already knew, and even leave us some new breadcrumbs for what we might get to look forward to in the upcoming Arabella trilogy. If you are already reading book 6 you're probably a fan of the series and I don't need to sell you. But just in case you were worried.. don't be. They just keep getting better. ( )

Review to come but it ends with 2 little epilogues that I loved.

The third book to feature Catalina now has the family living in a large compound since the destruction of warehouse in the previous book. She finds herself having to figure out who attacked Duncan and why certain parties are interested in helping her. I will say this book wraps up threads that have been dangling since the beginning of the series. There is a nice HEA for the book to end on and I really hope we get books focusing on Arabella since she is the last of the sisters that hasn’t found a love.

I will have to say if there is a line that really shines a light on Cornelius and even if he never falls in love again, I would like to see more about him and his powers. There is so much to discover about the various powers that run in the family and in the different houses I so hope we get lots more in this story universe.

I loved this completion to Catalina’s trilogy! I knew from their blog the authors struggled with this one, but they must have worked through whatever issues they were having. It was a strong finish to this arc, with hints there could be more to come. I’d love to read future installments for any of the Baylor siblings, cousins, Cornelius or Matilda. The characters are all so great, I just want more and more.

The magical battles were vividly described, and there were many of them—not so many that they took over the book, but they kept the pace brisk. There were great family moments, sweet scenes between C and A, and as always, lots of snarky humor in the dialogue. I’m thrilled with this conclusion and hopeful to see the series continue through another character’s eyes. ( )

Crisp and heavy action, a dash of sex, and all the pieces moving all the time keeps the conclusion of Catalina's story absorbing and absurd in equal measure. Comp, comp, the potato chips are savory. ( )
