Classic detective with troubled past which he doesn't want to share with new colleague Jess. Despite the cliches an entertaining read with a surprising final twist. ( )

Five weeks ago three year old Lucy Green disappeared. Albert Sykes confessed to her murder and is now awaiting sentencing, but Lucy has just turned up, alive.
Meanwhile local villain Nick Sutton has disappeared. But is his arch rival Andy March behind it. The case gets more complicated as DI Harry Lennox and DS Jess Wilde investigate.
An interesting and well-written crime story. A good start to the series with its cast of varied characters.
Recieved an ARC from the publisher. ( )
