Absolutely sweet story of Moses, how his sister watched over him and was able to help get their mother to take care of him after he was "rescued" by the emperor's sister. Enjoyed reading it to the boys

This was a fantastic Bible story picture book. I have pretty high standards for Bible stories I read to my children, because so many are altered or watered down, but I thought this did a great job of sticking to the Bible narrative while also diving a little more deeply into how hard it would have been for Miriam and her mother to leave Moses in the Nile and entrust him to the Lord.
The illustrations are lovely, and the back matter also includes sheet music for the song that Miriam and her mother sing to baby Moses, which is helpful for readers like me, who have trouble making up tunes for songs in picture books.
I would highly recommend this book, especially for kids ages 4-7 or so. ( )

Hiding Baby Moses is a picture book retelling of the Bible story (from Exodus chapter 2) of the "Finding of Moses" (also known as "Moses in the Bullrushes").  Told from the viewpoint of his unnamed older sister (perhaps Miriam), the familiar tale is enhanced by the evocative, colorful illustrations by Melanie Cataldo, and an original song by author Judith L. Roth and her husband Marc Roth.  The song has words similar to Psalms 91:4 and 17:8, and Isaiah 32:2.  Judith Roth is also a poet with a master's degree in theology, and has been a musician and youth minister. This beautlifully illustrated book tells young children (ages 3-7) the story from Exodus about baby Moses being hidden in a basket and found by Pharaoh's daughter from the perspective of hils older sister. The book includes the words and music to a short song, "The Shelter of God's Wings." Roth, the author of several children's books, has a Master of Arts in Theology and has served as a youth minister. Not sure exactly what I expected, but this was not it. Physically, it is a lovely book. I was just expecting a bit more from the story. ( )
