Sixteen essays each exploring medical issues offer significant fodder for discussion. The author, a retired liver transplant physician discusses topics in a scientific, and philosophic meander sprinkled with wit, cynicism and an obvious desire to influence critical thought and improved outcomes for the medical world and its patients. Euthanasia, problem-solving, medical lingo, economics, teaching and training are just a few of the topics. I had put off reading this book thinking it might be above my head, and now I wish I had not delayed. I wonder what Dr. Ghent has to say about our current pandemic. ( )
