Ron Cobb is a US- born artist, writer, and film director whose political cartoons appeared in newspapers of the Underground Press Syndicate. The present collection (from 1975) compiles cartoons that appeared in the Los Angeles Free Press and elsewhere, rendered in his highly distinctive style. The cartoons are printed here to maximal advantage (each takes up a full page, allowing appreciation of their detail). They offer perspectives on political issues that are dystopic and irreverent. You're not likely to see these works in your Sunday paper, and that's all the more reason to seek them out. ( )
