Nice weaving of fiction with information about Claude Monet and his painting style. I really enjoyed the illustruations, as well as the magical quality of the story. ( )

The fictionalized story of a girl whose family was well-connected to the art world in France and who visited Monet at Giverny. The characters appear in a cartoony style against a backdrop painted in Monet's impressionist style. Photos of famous Monet paintings are integrated into the story. A wonderful introduction to Impressionism for young children.

I choose this book because I love Monet paintings. The story is about a young girl who takes a stroll in a magical garden, the garden being pictures of Monet paintings. Beautifully illustrated. Storyline could of been more thought provoking and mysterious.

Our family loves Claude Monet's work.

We have seen several of his paintings.

At the National Gallery London we have seen these:

We saw many examples of his work at the Musee D'Orsay in Paris. ( )

Julie lives in Paris, but she longs to walk in a beautiful country garden. When her mother takes her on a visit to rural Giverny, Julie discovers a beautiful garden and befriends the man she believes is the gardener. In fact, he is the gardenÂ's owner, the immortal artist Claude Monet. This is a title in BarronÂ's AnholtÂ's Artists Books for Children series, in which author and illustrator Laurence Anholt recalls memorable and sometimes amusing moments when the lives of the artists were touched by children.
