Gr 3–5—In poetry and prose, Judge discusses the science, chemistry, and growth of trees—particularly, how they
live in community and communicate with one another. The research is thorough, the illustrations lovely, and the
poetry lyrical.

I think this book is really great for students because it is both informational and poetry. Each page has a poem and a deeper explanation of the information. This could be great for a read-aloud if you want to do a couple of pages a day at any age, or students can read individually in 4th and up. ( )

This book discusses the different ways trees communicate with each other. There's a poem on one side of the page and scientific info on the other. So instead of competing with each other, are trees working together? If true, this is a huge change in scientific thought. Love the illustrations. ( )
