"Learning to understand and care about the feelings of others is one of the most important steps in a child's development--and it's never too early to help little ones build those skills. This beautifully illustrated storybook teaches young kids how to recognize and practice empathy through simple real-life scenarios that are easy for them to understand. It's written with clear language for adults to read aloud and features discussion questions and activities that encourage kids to talk about what they learned and use it in their lives." I think using the word “superpower” is brilliant. I think all kids need to know their feelings and their friend’s feelings are important.
The questions in the story creates an opportunity for a caregiver and child to have discussions about who their playmates are at school and how to handle a bully.
My granddaughter defended her friend when he was picked on by a bully because he couldn’t do a summersault. So, she did summersaults with him. They were all five years old.
Kids are never too young to learn empathy.
The strong points are the questions for the kids to answer and the suggestion for the kids to look in the mirror while making faces of different feelings they have. Making faces in the mirror also makes for some great giggle time. ( )
