I really enjoyed reading this book because of the gentle way it alludes to the feeling of homesickness one feels when they move somewhere new. This book is about a Korean immigrant girl who moved to the United States and finds comfort in the plum tree in her backyard because it reminds her of her old home in Korea. The tree falls down in a storm one day, leaving the little girl sad and empty. At the end of the book she plants a new plum tree in the same place. I think this book would be best for grades first through third. I think this book would be comforting for any immigrant children who are feeling a sense of homesickness. ( )
