Summary: This story is about a family that lives in a house in a town. They are throwing a surprise birthday party for their little girl. She opens her present that is a small house and inside the house is a present and in the present is a birthday cake that says happy birthday. After the birthday party, everybody leaves and it is time to go to sleep. The little girl seemed very excited and happy with her surprise birthday party.

Personal Reaction: I love this story. This little girl is so appreciative for the small party and one gift that she received for her birthday. I think that the pictures really help see what the little girl is experiencing and how she is reacting to her surprise.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1). I think it would be a good idea for students to color a picture of a cake and decorate it however they would like.
2). The students could also draw a picture of their idea of a present they would like to receive.
3). I also think myself as a teacher could bring cupcakes for the students at the end of the week for them completing their assignments for our reading.
